Edmund Pezalla, M.D., M. P. H., poetically states, “if you can run, run. If you can bike, bike. If you can walk, walk. Whatever activity you can handle, it’s important to move your body and engage your mind.” Let’s commit to some sort of regular exercise activity that engages our minds.

“A sound mind in a sound body” is based on a quotation by the Greek philosopher Thales (624-546 BC). Improving physical health will also improve mental health.  Daily habits to keep moving like exercise does not only control weight but it may also prevent health issues that affect our minds & diseases that attack our bodies. We should place every effort into keep moving so we can be healthier physically & mentally.

Staying active also improves our mood and definitely boost our energy. Our bodies crave being active. We are meant to move so why fight against such a natural occurrence? Think about how we feel during exercise. “My creative juices flow during my runs. I am more energized and excited about the rest of my day.” -IAmMsPrissy™. Staying active improves the quality of our lives.

Armand Tecco, M.Ed. says, “If you don’t use your body you will surely lose it.” So why take a chance to lose a body that does not belong to us; that was bought with a price. “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God?” -1 Corinthians 6:19.

So I am working towards a personal goal to regularly keep it moving that leads to a healthier body and a spiritually sound mind.

IAm…Hurt, Disappointed, Sad, Exhausted, GROWTH!

It is an empty feeling to realize someone who has occupied your life for the last 15 years does not respect you. To have the feeling of detachment breathe so heavy in the air is hurtful.

IAm…Hurt!

I am saddened with HUGE disappointment to now know that it did not matter how deeply I showed my love and support during dishonorable hurtful lows as well as the multitude of good moments.

IAm…Disappointed!

The words that ALWAYS massaged my heart to keep me giving my love do not work any longer. I have awakened to accept that repeated ACTIONS always produce the same results.

IAm…Sad!

I throw in the towel to defeat. I love hard and I allowed insecurities to lead my heart.

IAm…Exhausted!

My advice is NOT to follow your heart. Solomon stated at Proverbs 28:26 “Whoever trust in his own heart is stupid” and Writer Jeremiah wrote in the 17th chapter, 9th verse “The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate.”

I suggest the use of common sense. Follow your natural intuition. Walk in WISDOM. Job poetically wrote in the 28th verse of the 28th chapter, “The fear of Jehovah – that is Wisdom.”

Think about how unhealthy it is to worry about what other people are not doing. There are no health benefits to constantly complain and worry about what our coworkers, family members, and love ones are NOT doing.

Worrying can have a negative effect on our health. It makes us tired and causes stress. Worrying speeds up our aging process and may cause depression. It makes us hateful. Worrying becomes a cycle of self-perpetuating negative thoughts. Robert L. Leahy, PhD says, “Worriers are more likely to have irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, fatigue, and aches and pains.

To avoid many of these health issues FOCUS on what oneself is doing which is the key to a successful healthy and productive life.

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit saps one’s strength.” – Proverbs 17:22. So don’t let our spirits be crushed by our negative thoughts caused by other’s actions.

Our negative feelings are not the result of our circumstances but of how we view them. So view your circumstances differently. Don’t over think the actions of the deadbeats that surround us, don’t dwell on how we hate our jobs, or what that person over there is not doing and you are doing everything.

Instead plan your path to a successful healthy life. Pray often:  Psalm 34:18 Live better:  Colossians 3:12, 13 Eat cleaner: Basic Food Groups Exercise: Benefits of Strength Train Drink water regularly:  Water-Cold or Room Temperature?  Help others: Give Good  Two Secret Benefits to Help Others

Focus on growth that leads to your personal goals. Appreciate the enormous amount of blessings that Jehovah God has bestowed on you. Always remember that,

Exercise Helps me Get my Mind off my Problems and Clears my Head.

FullSizeRender“Exercise helps you get your mind off your problems and clears your head,” says Thomas Plante, PhD, an associate professor of psychology at Santa Clara University in California. I believe it. When I exercise my mind is free and my head is clear to compartmentalize my problems. Especially when I run, I examine the different areas of my life that may cause stress – work, finances, relationships, family. I come up with effective ways to cope with the stress in these areas.

I try to exercise at least 3 times a week. Lately I have come up short yet I never stop trying. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends for adults 150 minutes (2 ½ hours) of vigorous activity every week and muscle-toning exercises at least two days a week. So between my running, elliptical, push-ups, and dumb bell strength train exercises, I feel I can at least cover the exercise requirements. After all, exercise does boost my mood, helps to manage my weight, and can help me sleep better.

I come out a winner every time because any sort of exercise increases my overall health and my sense of well-being.

Love Not in Word but in the Truth

“…we should love, not in word or with the tongue, but in deed and truth.” – 1 Job 3:18

I am sometimes guilty of showing my love with word and not in my deeds. It is easy to do in this fast paced world. It seems there is little time to share and care.

As said by many, ‘time flies’.

By the time over worked and over stressed days get finish with me; I do not have much energy to nourish my love ones with good deeds at 100%.

I am conscientious of where I feel there’s need for improvement. I keep working at it every day: being used by Jehovah God to be the reason for someone’s joy; the cause of someone’s growth; the insight to someone’s process; the support to someone’s positive need; the love of someone’s life; the logic to someone’s conflict; the ying to someone’s yang; be the map to spiritual balance to someone’s unbalanced confused journey.

Time is precious and I should make bigger efforts to show my love not just with the tongue, but in truth.

I want to receive a healthier mind; therefore, I must mirror healthier actions.

refelction 2 timesThis morning I saw myself running no less than 6 miles. Guess what? I ran farther than 6. I ran 8.81 miles with nikeplusrunning tracking my every step. Running is my therapy. My mind gets uncluttered and my creative juices start to flow as the wind hit my face and the sweat start to pour.

Don’t get it twisted, the first 1 ½ half mile was a beast. My legs felt heavy and I felt awkward. I felt like turning around and going back home. Yet, I did not stop. I did not turn around. I kept going because I have been doing this long enough to know that those feelings were normal and they were going to pass.

I reflected on how I normally feel when I complete my runs. I challenged myself to go one more mile, then one more mile, then another mile. I noticed that my legs started to feel lighter. My balance was right on time. This happened because I followed my basic rules of running: chest and shoulders up, back straight, stomach in, elbows to my sides, arms swung back and forth while I kept my elbows close to my waist. My body was relaxed and my palms were open and facing inward. I imagined my body image to make sure I was following these rules. I looked at my reflection as I passed glass windows to make sure that my body was upright. I landed on the balls of my feet every step.

Oh yes, there is an art to my runs. I don’t play around.

So when it is all said and done, I was a reflection of what I wanted to receive this morning: a healthy complete run.

Keep It Moving

Even when I don’t feel like it I DO. So this morning I didn’t give in to laziness. I gave it all I had and ran 7.02 miles. I kept it moving with a 1.04 mile cool down walk.

Always do SOMETHING instead of nothing.

Excuses: Do Not Let Them Catch Up With You

FullSizeRenderExcuses are a part of life. Yet if we continue to make excuses for not becoming healthier, not thinking more positive, not moving toward living a more productive lifestyle, we will become complacent to do the same things over and over again. We will subconsciously stump our growth.

So today I decided to not let any excuse catch up with me and I just ran. I ran 15.36 miles with 1.16 mile cool down walk. BOOM…leave excuses behind and allow “Life to Ignite Growth”.

There are times when I have to be persistent to make HEALTHy happen. When it comes to living a healthier life I have to sometimes push myself to achieve that lifetime goal. Today I was persistent to complete my cardio with a 3.27 mile #run on my #elliptical.

Always remember to be persistent, make HEALthy happen, and enjoy a healthier you.
